BDI is registered in all U.S. states that have sales tax, to collect and remit sales tax according to that state’s sales and use tax regulations. BDI must charge and remit sales tax in accordance to the rate of the ship-to state to that individual state’s taxing authorities, unless the purchaser can provide a valid resale certificate from that particular state. As a result of being registered in all U.S. states, which have sales tax, BDI must treat all purchasers who are not registered with the ship-to state as an out-of-state purchaser. BDI can only exempt or issue sales tax credits if the purchaser can provide a resale certificate from the state in which business is conducted in whether or not the purchaser is registered for that state or not
Tax Exemption
Located on the top navigation, third tab over, under the Help & Support section, you will find the Tax Form Exemption Certificate Wizard.
Click on Tax Forms & Information to open the Exemption Certificate Wizard.
Here you may select one or multiple states to continue.
Next select a reason for your Tax Exemption Certificate. Here you may only select one.
After identifying your reason, click the drop down arrow and select either create or upload.
Upload Forms – simply select file to upload.
Use this option only if you have a PDF certificate ready for upload. Otherwise, use Option 2 to “Create” a certificate that is relevant to the your mode of purchase with BDI.
Option 2:
Create Forms – describe the items that qualify for the exemption and fill in the reasoning.
Choose whether it is a Blanket or Single Use purchase you are requiring the Tax Exemption for.
Option 1:
Single Use Order – single purchase exemption.
Fill in Buyer Information
Provide your signature and click Submit.
BDI reserves the right to review and validate an exemption or resale certificate submitted to BDI.
Option 2:
Blanket Order – covers all purchases.
Fill in Buyers Information.
Provide your signature and click Submit.
